Efficiency measurement of Commercial Banks by Data Envelopment Analysis Model - A Case of Mercantile Bank Limited

Abstract: This paper investigates the efficiency of a commercial bank named Mercantile Bank Limited for the year ending 31st December 2001. Data Envelopment Analysis Model (DEA) is adopted to measure the efficiency. The study revels that out of seven branches under consideration six of them are utilizing the resources in the optimum way and rest one branch has possibility to increase the output by utilizing its existing resources more efficient way or may shift its resources in another branch which is the efficient user of that resources
